Conservatory Garden

The Conservatory Garden

Central Park's Conservatory Garden

Conservatory Garden takes its name from a conservatory that stood on the site from 1898 to 1935.
Conservatory Garden is a quiet, serene place, well-beloved by visitors who want to rewind and relax, its name makes homage to the old conservatory that was there between 1898 and 1935.
Designed by Gilmore D. Clark and open to the public since 1939.
The Conservatory Garden is six acres large and consists of three separate and totally different gardens – the French in the north, the Italian in the center and the English at the South. It's the only formal garden in Central Park.

Burnett Fountain

Sheltered in the center of the English garden is the Burnett Fountain, a bronze sculpture of two children, Mary and Dickon, characters from Frances Hodgson Burnett's book The Secret Garden.
